Busy Weekend

Filed under: friends — ladybug @ 2:57 am

We had a great time in Ottawa with Mike and Margie. We met again on Saturday morning at Byward Market went through many little shops. After lunch at Zak’s, M & M were off to a museum and Eddie and I got ready for our flight back to TO. This morning we got up early and headed out for Minden - 2 hours north east of here (when Eddie drives - 2 1/2 hours for the rest of us). Our good friend, Ron Mahler, was ordained into the AGC denomination which is the same denomination as our church (Bridletowne Park Church). Eddie was asked to speak. What a privilege! We’ve been friends with Ron and Elaine for many years and it was a delight to be a part of this ceremony. I have a few pictures posted here in a slide show.

I’m writing this post from Ottawa. I arrived here last night and both Eddie and I will return home tomorrow night. Tonight was special as our dear friends Mike and Margie are in town! They are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a weekend in the nation’s capital - a gift from their children. Here we are having a lovely dinner together at the Capital Restaurant in the Delta Hotel. It was a nice quiet and romantic evening and we had the entire restaurant to ourselves. We had so much fun sharing stories and enjoying a wonderful meal. Happy Anniversary M & M!

Snow, the Earth and Family

Today is the first day of spring but you’d never know it. It’s cold and a little wet outside and we still have mountains of snow. Earlier this month I went to Ottawa and spent four full days with Eddie. We made good use of our time by house hunting. On the Saturday we got hit with a major snow storm in Ontario and Ottawa got about 50cm of snow (about 2 feet), which made going to church and back on Sunday morning a real adventure for us. This is a picture of me at a townhouse we were looking at. It’s very hard to look at houses when everything is white. We can’t tell a thing about the yards. Will it ever melt?

On another note, on March 29 at 8 pm, we will be taking part in Earth Hour. Please click here to learn more and to sign up for this fun and important event.

Last Sunday we had a great afternoon with Jason, Irene, Gord and his brother Ross. We hadn’t been together as a family since Chinese New Year. After lunch we watched a hilarious episode of Top Gear before Irene, Gord and Ross rushed back to London (Ontario).

Next month I’ll be in Florida celebrating my mom’s 82nd birthday. As usual, I will post photos of my trip so stay tuned.

The Year of the Rat

No February blahs for our family. On Feb. 7 we celebrated Chinese New Year. If you click here you’ll see the fun. The Chu Clan knows how to party and eat! Thanks for providing the music, Peter. Jason - thanks for sharing some of your photos.

Eddie started working in Ottawa in February. I went with him for a few days and had a fun time exploring on foot. First on my list was to find a local yarn store. After walking (and freezing!) about 20 minutes I found the store and had a nice relaxing time feeling different yarns and going through patterns. On my walk back I kept going until I reached the Parliament buildings. Here I am trying to take a picture of myself. It’s not an easy thing to do while wearing mitts and shivering. I look forward to more trips to Ottawa on a regular basis to scout out the land.
