What a fast four weeks! Irene & Gord and Christina & Tom are back from Scotland safe and sound. Eddie and I went to the airport for some quick hugs and then off they went by shuttle to their car. They have a 2-hour drive to London to drop Irene and Gord off and then another hour to Sarnia. It’s a very long day for them. We thank God for their safety and for a great trip. Irene and Gordon had a quick side trip to Spain and were in Barcelona for three days.
Last year Jason went to Germany and Austria. I’d say our kids are becoming world travelers. I wonder which country will be next ?
Our garden in July was beautiful. This time Eddie made a short video using one of our most favorite songs which expresses our hearts beautifully. Clicking here will bring up the video.
August in Toronto is full of street parties and fun things to do. We try to get to the Taste of the Danforth every year. This festival claims to be the largest street festival in North America. It is put on by Krinos which is a Greek food distributor. If you’d like to see some of our fun, click here Clicking on each photo maximizes it. Clicking the enlarged view will minimize it.
Today is my birthday. I’ve had birthday calls from around the world: Mom from Florida, Irene from Scotland and Nancy and her family from Greece, and of course Jason from Toronto. It’s been an international affair. I’ve also had several birthday emails. I am truly blessed.
One of the things I wanted for my birthday was to clean out our crawl space - believe it! Crawl space is that area in your house where you put things and forget you have them. It can be yucky job. It’s also a trip down memory lane. Eddie and I made a great start at it and now we need to make a trip to the recycling depot and have lots of garbage to put out as well. We haven’t finished yet as Jason and Irene need to go through their things. I found Mother’s Day cards that I received from Jason and Irene. Jason’s is from 1988 and there’s no date on Irene’s. They made cleaning out a closet worth the effort! Here they are:

In early July Eddie and I went to the Prison Fellowship International Conference which was downtown. There were many speakers and people from 137 countries in attendance. The highlight for us was to meet 2 of our favorite authors: For Eddie - Chris Marshall; for both of us - Philip Yancey. Chuck Colson made a surprise visit and had a short interview on the Friday morning. Here are some photos.
My Ladies Group completed a study on Yancey’s book, Prayer-Does It Make Any Difference? I think it’s the best book on prayer that we’ve read. I took some notes while reading it and came up with a list that helps to define prayer. You can click here to read it. I’ve put the page numbers in case you have the book and want to read more.
Eddie has read several of Chris Marshall’s books and exchanged emails with him on some theological topics. Chris is from New Zealand and is the person who told Eddie about this Conference and that he would be in Toronto in July. It was a special time for us. Eddie also met another favorite author, Baxter Kruger.
