Last night, April 21, Eddie and I joined a crowd of people at the Jukebox in Pickering to celebrate the 40th birthday of our friend, Gloria. We met Gloria and Warren at the Delta Hotel where we swim. She did a serious workout at the gym and now goes to Extreme Fitness. We still get to see each other regularly because we both do Weight Watchers AND, most importantly, we are in Knitting Group together along with her mom, Anne, and friend Gina. This is a picture of me with Gina and the birthday diva.
I put together a few photos to capture some of the festive mood . . . but you really had to be there.
It was a great party, Gloria. Happy Birthday - I can’t wait to see how you’ll celebrate the big FIVE-O! CLICK HERE for the photos.

This good bye is not as traumatic or heartbreaking as saying goodbye to Buck - but it did happen in the same week. L8DI BG is now gone to bug heaven. No more can’t-reach-anything dash board, no more useless cup holders that will only take small coffee cups and NO water bottles, and no more where do I put my phone? problems - the time has come to upgrade to an adult’s car. Eddie bought the Beetle for me in July 1998 and it’s been so much fun to have. People rolling down their windows at stop lights to ask if the engine was in the front or the back (it was in the front), people posing to have their picture taken standing beside it in a Walmart parking lot, being recognized by dozens of friends and then having them tell me they saw me and no more giving kids rides around our church parking lot. Yes, it was a fun car to have. But - things started to go - as they do when we get older. Repairs bills were adding up and with summer coming and the AC acting up for the last 2 years, well, it was time.
So - bye to another little friend and, thanks for the ride . . . I know a lot of people will miss you.
O yes - We didn’t have the heart to retire the plate, so L8DI BG is now sporting a new body - this time it’s a hopping new Rabbit.

Today is Easter - April 8, 2007. It’s also the day a dear and sweet little friend passed away - our little dog BUCK. This is a picture of him stuck in the laundry tub that he managed to jump in!
Last night Buck started to have difficulty breathing and wasn’t eating. It continued today. Eddie, Peter and I were on our way to an emergency animal clinic when he just laid down in the back seat of the car and passed away. It was peaceful and quick - like a blink of an eye. Our hearts are broken. He was so much a part of our family. Going through our photos in order to compile a little slide show was a sad and teary experience. He was everywhere with us - at all our family gatherings. Everyone loved Buck. His ability to sing brought such laughter - especially to my father-in-law.
We got Buck in January 1996 when he was just 8 months old. Our entire family will miss seeing him bounce around the house and I’m sure his new friend, Alfie will miss him too. Please enjoy this slide show of our little friend. Click HERE and then the arrow at the bottom right of each screen.

Last weekend I attended my niece-in-law, Tracey’s, baptism in Dover, New Hampshire. What a special time it was. The baptism was held on Saturday morning, March 31, 2007 and was followed with a party . I had a great time getting to know my two nieces, Sophie and Erin, and my nephew, Niko. On Sunday, after church and a little shopping trip, Tracey took me to a sheep farm to see the home spun and dyed wool. If you go to my knitting blog (link is on the right) you can read more about it.
